Artists Create at RAD

Time to get on the bandwagon, artists? Recycle, repurpose, reinvent, recreate...

Recycling in Missoula - long way to go...

Another artist, Ke'vin Bowers and myself have been discussing using ground plastic to make paints, gesso, etc. We are hoping to do a series of art related workshops, talks, and a show surrounding plastics in the arts.

I am currently showing an artist, Shawn Len Smith in my gallery, Repertoire Art & Design who repurposes colored plastic pieces as sculpture. Below is just one example. These are lit from inside, so they are beautiful in low light, or the dark as well.

"Our Lady of the Albinos" by Shawn Len Smith - mixed media plastics

What ideas do you have for the plastics arts arena?
How would you, or do you use plastics in your work?
Where would you advise other artists to begin?
